“With one year to go until Expo 2020 Dubai opens on 1 October 2021, organizers are committed to convening the global community in a spirit of collaboration and innovation to build a strong, sustainable future for everyone.“

The Organizers of Expo 2020 released new images that show the advanced state of readiness across the site, Expo 2020 is fully prepared to host a global celebration of humanity’s resilience, creativity, culture, and innovation.

The event was originally scheduled to start this month and now rescheduled to open on October 2021. but many of the main structures are ready on site.

Expo 2020 Dubai will operate under the theme ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’. with sub-themes of Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability.

In the center of the site is the Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill designed Dome covering Al Wasl Plaza, here lies the intersection of the three main themes.

The Mobility Pavilion is designed by Foster + Partners to celebrate innovation and new technologies related to mobility.

Grimshaw designed the Sustainability Pavilion, which acts as a large canopy structure to provide shade for the exhibition spaces below.

The structure was designed in a way to collect water from the air and is equipped with sun-tracking solar panels.

The new photos also show the UAE national pavilion named “A Falcon in Flight, the structure is designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.

The site is accessed by large entry portals designed by Asif Khan , The portals are a futuristic exploration of the traditional “mashrabiya”, an elegant design element used across the region to control light and airflow.
